Forbes and Walker Fine Foods (Pvt) Ltd is a subsidiary of Forbes &Walker Limited, a Group of Companies engaged in commodity brokering (tea, rubber, spices), warehousing and export of agricultural products. It was established in 1881 as a result of a partnership between James Forbes and George Chapman to do business within the thriving tea plantations business during that time. The company has since grown and is now recognized as the largest and most progressive produce broking company in Sri Lanka.

Forbes Fine Foods Pvt Ltd, formerly referred to as ‘Forbes Services Pvt Ltd’ was incorporated in 1985, and was the youngest addition to the Forbes & Walker Group. This company entered into the export of pickled gherkins in 1991 having a growing and manufacturing unit in Sri Lanka. However due to numerous factors moved its focus into South India, and was the pioneer to introduce this product as a large scale export crop to India. Since 1995 FFF has been engaged in the export of pickled gherkins using a network of contract packers in India. This is done under direct supervision of FFF technical personnel relocated to India from Sri Lanka.

Forbes and Walker Fine Foods (Pvt) Ltd, formerly referred to as ‘Forbes Services Pvt Ltd.’ was incorporated in 1985. The company entered into growing and exporting of pickled gherkins in 1991 out of Sri Lanka. However due to numerous factors it moved operations to South India, and was the pioneer in introducing farming of gherkins as a large scale export crop to India. Growing and production is done through a selected base of farms, contract packers and also through our own factory. The Quality Assurance team employed by Forbes and Walker Fine Foods (Pvt) Ltd. oversee every step of the process.

Traditional export markets included North America, but in recent years focus has been placed on business development within Europe, Japan and USA . Forbes and Walker Fine Foods (Pvt) Ltd currently exports 5,000 MT per annum.
A majority stake in Forbes & Walker Limited is held by the MJF Group; manufacturer & marketer of DILMAH tea (www.dilmahtea.com). Launched in 1988, DILMAH was the first producer owned tea brand in the world offering consumers garden fresh, unblended, ethical and single origin tea.
